Logging In to Almopol
Almopol allows you to describe your own orchards, define your scenarios, save your
results and tailor the model paramaters in a variety of ways. In order to do this,
Almopol keeps your information separate from everyone else's information. The way
you access your specific information is to create an account and log into that account
whenever you want to use the system.
Creating an account for the first time
It is easy to create your new account. On the main screen, press the Login link
at the upper right side of screen. This will bring up a dialog box that has areas
to enter User Name and Password. You will also see a link that says "New Users Click
Here". Click that link to bring up the New Account form. Enter a User Name (you
can use any name that you like - if it already exists, you will be alerted). You
will also enter a Password that must be a minimum of 6 characters long and you will
have to confirm your password by entering it a second time. The next three pieces
of information are to help you recover your password if you forget it later. You
are asked to enter your email address. This will only be used to send you your password
if you request it later. Finally, you are asked to enter a Security Question and
the associated answer. For example, your security question could be "In which state
was I born" and the security answer could be "Georgia" (or whatever is appropriate
for you, of course). When you are done filling out the form, press the "Create User"
button. If your account was created successfully, you will get a notification of
that and then you will be directed to Almopol. You are now ready to start defining
your orchards. If anything went wrong in creating your new account, you will be
given a message and an opportunity to make the necessary adjustments.
Logging in to an existing account
When you first get to the Almopol homepage, you will have to log in to run the model.
Press the Login link at the upper right of the screen and the login form will be
displayed. Enter your User Name and your Password, press the Log In button and you
will be logged in to Almopol. You will see the navigation menu across the top of
the page which will allow you to work with your model.
If you have forgotten your password, you can click the "Forgot Password" link at
the bottom of the login form which will guide you through steps which will result
in your password being mailed to your email address. First you will re-enter your
User Name. Then you will be presented with the Security Question you identified
when you created your account. If you answer the question with the answer you gave
when you created your account, your password will be emailed to you. You can then
log in to Almopol.
